About Shamekia HarstonExecutive Director
I was born and raised in Des Moines, IA. I was not fortunate enough to be raised by both parents in the home. As a child I suffered but survived as an at-risk youth. I was in and out of homes I attended multiple schools in the Des Moines area. By the age of twelve I was on my own I spent most of my time as a youth being raised in Augusta Arkansas by my mother who was an at-risk youth. Also, as a young teen mother I had to grow up at an early age. By the age of seventeen I graduated from high school and then attended DMACC (Ankeny campus) where I received my Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate and later attend Vatterott College where I received my Medical Assistant with Limited Radiology (AAMA). As a child, a teenage mother and personal life experiences I've come to realize giving back is my passion. Youthful Generations programs are here to provide guidance and advice to ensure that our youth achieves their goals. |
